Cheesies: As part of our recent competition, the lovely people over at Cheesies Headquarters kindly gave us a box and a few extras packets of their now famous Cheesies
We were intrigued about the people behind the product so Kirstie sent them a few questions!
Business Facts:
Who are you and what do you do?
We’re Craig Jones and David Folkman, sometimes shortened to Craig David if we’re looking for a little ‘Bo-Selecta’ recognition as a Noughties rapper. We met working at Innocent drinks selling smoothies to the supermarkets.
Kirstie says – You are so ‘down with the kids’! Have you sent him a packet? If you haven’t, you really should!
Why did you start Cheesies?
We’ve both followed a low carb diet with some success but struggled when it came to snacking as there are few choices available in the shops. There are similar products to Cheesies in the USA and felt crunchy popped cheese should be available in the UK.
How long has it been running for?
We launched Cheesies in April 2019.
How is it going?
Unbelievably well. We’ve been blown away by the reaction to Cheesies and the love we’ve had on social media.
Has anything gone wrong or different to how you planned?
We have had a few challenges with our manufacturing when we received some overly baked products. It’s all fixed now and we’ve put it down to teething problems for a new company.
What are the ingredients?
The only ingredient in Cheesies is cheese. And it’s vegetarian cheese which we think is important.
Kirstie says – oohhhhh I didn’t know that. Low carb, vegetarian and no nasties…… love your thinking!
What are your goals for Cheesies as a company and a product?
We’d love to see Cheesies in the supermarkets in the UK and then we’d like to expand internationally. The USA is an obvious place to launch the brand but we know there will be challenges.

What advice would you give someone who was starting their own business?
Just get on an do it. People spend too long talking, analysing and forecasting what a new business idea will do but until you get stuck and start selling, you don’t know what will happen. Start small but get on with it.

Cheesus Christ, Alexander the Grate – no only joking!
The innocent founders were amazing to work with so let’s go for them.
