If you have digestive issues with the diary and nuts that are in a FatHead pizza base, this “meatzza” base may well be for you!
Turkey is a very bland meat, so it works well as a base for all of the flavourful pizza toppings.
Unlike a FatHead, you could also use this for “Pizza with Egg on the top”, that one used to be a firm favourite of my back when I used to eat thin crust pizza very regularly!!
Ingredients
- 1kg fine minced Turkey
- 2 tsp Italian herbs
- 1 beaten egg
- 1/2 cup of “Pork Crunch” crumbs
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper (or to taste)
- Hard Mozzarella and other toppings and sauce of your choice
Method
Mix the turkey, herb, egg, crumbs and seasoning together and then press out thinly into a 30cm/12″ high-lipped pizza pan. Go up the sides a bit as well, as this will shrink as it bakes.
Bake in a cool oven (GM2 300F 150C) for 20 minutes.
If still soft, continue cooking, checking ever 5 min. Drain any fat from the crust when “set”.
Top with the sauce of your choice, enough grated hard mozzarella to cover and your choice of other toppings
Return to oven to cook until toppings are done and the cheese is bubbly.
